Welcome and thank you for considering us.
Papalote Occupational Therapy started with the vision of serving children and families who are seeking a more holistic and nurturing therapy experience. We offer a safe and affirming space for all, with a trauma-informed lens and cultural sensitivity. Our private pay services allow us the freedom to truly address the child’s needs and goals, with a dynamic plan of care that supports the whole family. We hope you find what you’re looking for.
Neurodivergent children sometimes present with developmental delays and sensory processing issues, difficulties in communication skills, gross and fine motor skills, and find that their environment fails to acknowledge and/or support their needs. With a neurodiversity-affirming approach, we help kids gain confidence, self-advocacy skills, identify tools for regulation, improve developmental deficits, and identify barriers in order to create a more just and supportive environment.
We support kids and families through sensory integration and a sensory diet to improve functional skills at home, school, play, etc. We also aim to identify sensory sensitivities in order to create a more supporting environment in the child’s context.
We facilitate the development of fine and gross motor skills, including handwriting, grasp, dexterity, bilateral coordination, balance, hand-eye coordination, etc.
Many of our kids are emotionally sensitive. Being deeply feeling is not something that needs to be “fixed” or that goes away with adulthood. At Papalote we model co-regulation skills, which is the first step in fostering self-regulation skills. You will see us teaching caregivers how to co-regulate with their child and model self-regulation, which may look like validating the child’s feelings, holding space for all emotions without judgement, helping to name the emotion and sensations, and finding safe ways to express themselves.
At Papalote Occupational Therapy we strongly support mental health, and it is not uncommon for children with different mental health conditions to seek occupational therapy. Some of the conditions we see are ODD, anxiety, stress, C-PTSD, separation anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, sleep disturbances, and more. A diagnosis is not needed to use our services.
We recognize the importance of taking care of ourselves so that we can show up as our best versions for our kids. Papalote Occupational Therapy offers caregiver groups covering different topics, check our social media page for events.
We welcome people of all racial, sexual, gender, religious, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities.
We believe that everyone deserves quality therapy services regardless of their ability to pay and offer flexible pricing options.
We welcome, support, respect, and value all individuals and groups.
